Newport Beach, CA

Newport Beach is a beautiful sandy escape in southern California. Stroll the harbor promenades and listen to the surf rolling in from your sun-warmed beach blanket. This is the perfect spot to uncork a sparkling beverage by the sparkling sea. Visit Newport Beach pier and amble amid lovely boats tied in the harbor, their lines clinking off masts in the breeze. If you’re looking for cliffs and coves, Crystal Cove State Park gives you 3.2 miles of south coast wilderness, inland chaparral canyons, and historic beach houses. We suggest packing two 12oz insulated wine tumblers and your favorite bottle of wine in our insulated wine jacket for when you find just the right sun-splashed stretch (also available as a tumber/jacket combo). Be sure to press in the clear Best Lid Ever™ to keep sand out of your Sauv (Cab or Blanc)!

Joshua Tree National Park, CA

Joshua Tree is where the Mojave and Colorado deserts meet. For doting daytrippers, we recommend hiking the Panorama Loop Trail. With breathtaking views and miles of prickly cacti, it’s a longer trek at 6.7 miles (plan on 3 hours), but the journey overlooks stunning Black Rock Canyon which is carpeted in dense groves of Joshua trees. Plus, you can celebrate reaching the trailhead with our champagne flute 2-pack and wine jacket bundle!
For a shorter (but magnificent) exploration, the Hidden Valley trail (1 mile) showcases towering Joshua trees (yucca brevifolia) and pinyon-junipers surrounded by giant granite boulders. And the Barker Dam trail (1.5 miles) near the west entrance of the park pairs jagged desert rock with sapphire blue water—a hidden pool in the desert.
Finish at the Cholla Cactus Garden Loop (0.25 miles) to get cute Instagram pics of  ocotillo, smoke tree, holla varieties, and fuzzy cholla (aka "teddy bear" cactus). Be mindful though! Those spines may look adorable, but they’re sharp.

Garner State Park, TX

The bright blue waters of the Frio river are perfect for couples looking for a waterside afternoon. Spend an hour “floating the Frio” or rent a paddle boat and take in the scenery of the hilly terrain—the perfect backdrop for unwinding. For a hidden gem, walk along Blinn River trail and splash in pools of sparkling water. With over 16 miles of trails in the park, you’re sure to find a cozy spot to spread out a blanket. And if music calls to you, don’t miss the park’s concession building that plays evening jukebox tunes, a tradition upheld since the 1940s. After an amazing day, rent a cabin and stay the night!

Crescent Moon Picnic Site, AZ

Surrounded by towering red rock, Crescent Moon Picnic Site is only 7 miles from Sedona in the Coconino National Forest. Replete with a babbling creek and endless grassy fields, it’s a pretty place for a shady picnic. From here, walk the Red Rock Crossing trail to Cathedral Rock, a surreal sandstone monument glowing red under the bright blue Arizona sky. This monolith is thought to be the most photographed landmark in the southwest. The trail is 3.7 miles round trip. Add 1.5 hours if scaling to the top of Cathedral Rock is just about the most romantic thing you can imagine—it is! And don’t forget to pack two 17oz beer tumblers and your favorite brew to celebrate at the summit!

Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, CA

Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park in Monterey County has miles of gigantic redwoods and woodland hikes that wind between sycamores, cottonwoods, maples, and alders. The 1.2-mile Big Sur River Gorge Trail has a romantic rustic bridge over a shallow creek that’s the ideal place to dip your toes. The 1.3-mile Pfeiffer Falls Trail offers awe-inspiring cliff views, and Pfeiffer Beach (about 1 mile down the road) is a peaceful place to watch the sun dip into the ocean. If you have two days to explore, rent a room at Big Sur Lodge. Surrounded by nature, it’s a cozy west coast getaway that avid adventurers use as a base to nature bathe in west coast beauty. Everywhere you turn in Pfeiffer is a place to pop a cork! Might we suggest going big with ThermoFlask’s Ultimate Celebration Bundle? It has everything you need to celebrate your love of the outdoors (and each other) in insulated style.
